Janine Mak
- Physiotherapist: Pelvic Health, Orthopaedics & Pediatrics

Janine is a licensed physiotherapist with a special interest in women’s health and wellness. Janine completed her Bachelor of Physical Education at the University of Manitoba which first sparked her interest in therapeutic exercise. This led her to pursue a career in physiotherapy where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta.  For the past 10 years, Janine has worked with a variety of populations including development in the infant population, growth and sport injuries in adolescents as well as neurological and orthopedic conditions in adults and children.

After the birth of her oldest son in 2008, Janine became interested in women’s health and wellness. Janine was fortunate to have a background in physiotherapy and access to resources in women’s health. Having this knowledge was extremely valuable in her return to activity and she wanted to share this knowledge with others.  This inspired her to further her education by completing a postgraduate course in Exercise for Women at the University of Melbourne in Australia. Janine strongly supports the Aussies’ approach in providing preventative physiotherapy for women. Combined with her background in pediatric health, she felt combining the two was the perfect solution: preventative health for moms and babies.  Janine learned about the many issues that women may face when starting or resuming an exercise program throughout the lifespan, from  adolescence to the postmenopausal period.  Janine is one of a small group of physiotherapists in Calgary that specializes in Pelvic Health and is able to treat pelvic floor issues such as urinary incontinence, prolapse and pelvic pain issues.  She is also trained in The Hypopressive technique that is highly effective in the treatment of prolapse and incontinence. Janine has always been a firm believer in maintaining an active lifestyle and being a positive role model for her two young boys. She recognizes the importance of being pro-active and the role that it plays in overall well-being. Outside of work, Janine enjoys mountain biking, skiing, racquet sports, traveling and spending time with her family.
