Leah Peterson - Physiotherapist MScPT, BSc (Kinesiology)
Leah graduated from the Physical Therapy program at the University of Alberta after completing her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at the University of Calgary. She enjoys working with all patient populations, including athletes, post-surgical, joint replacements, and chronic pain. Leah has a special interest in treating dancers due to her personal experience training and competing in multiple styles of dance. Leah has been a patient herself in physiotherapy, both pre and post-surgery, and she is excited to bring this unique perspective into her practice. She plans to complete further educational courses in dry needling, vestibular rehabilitation, and manual therapy levels. Outside of work, Leah enjoys participating in dance, spin, and barre classes as well as a variety of sports including volleyball and slow-pitch.
Leah Duke - Physiotherapist
Leah Duke has been a licensed physiotherapist since 2008. She graduated with her Masters in Physiotherapy from the University of Alberta, prior to that, she had completed her Kinesiology degree through the University of Calgary. Growing up in Calgary, Leah was a student at the Alberta Ballet School of Dance in the professional division. This experience has led to her interest of treating dancers, taking her back to the School of Albert Ballet on the Alberta Ballet Medical Team with Momentum Health. Leah also continues to treat an active general population at the Glencoe Club. She is in the process of completing her Gunn IMS certification. Her other qualifications include manual therapy level 3 lower, and Medical Acupuncture Certification through Dr. Aung. When Leah’s not working, she has 2 school aged kids that keep her very busy.
Dr. Philip Nelson - Chiropractor DC
Dr. Phil Nelson grew up in Saint John, New Brunswick. He graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree, where he was also the varsity basketball trainer. Furthering his education, Dr. Nelson graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto before chasing the mountains and arriving in Calgary. On his days off, Dr. Nelson can be found doing a multitude of activities including hiking and skiing. He is an active member of the Canadian Pro Rodeo Sports Medicine Team, a patroller with the Canadian Ski Patrol and is the official Chiropractor of the Alberta Ballet. Dr. Nelson has always been passionate about health and he is a firm believer that “pre-habilitation”, proper biomechanics, and education will lead to a happier, healthier life.
Karen Vito - Registered Massage Therapist RMT
Karen's passion for dance and her recovery from a dance-related injury led her to become a Massage Therapist, graduating from MaKami College as a 3,000 hour Registered Massage Therapist. She saw the amazing benefits of regular massage for maintenance, injury prevention and recovery. Karen is certified in relaxation, therapeutic, sport massage, TMJ massage and hot stone massage, to name a few. In addition to completing her RMT designation, Karen has also completed her Fascial Movement Taping Certification.
Karen also dances and performs in contemporary, modern and ballet productions. With her experience in dance, knowledge in massage therapy and personal training, she hopes to help clients with their sport related injuries.
Karen also attended the University of Calgary and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Language Studies.
Dr. Stephanie Yaremko - Naturopathic Doctor
Dr. Stephanie Yaremko is a naturopathic doctor and family wellness expert. Her travel and work in many countries give her diverse and extensive experience. As the primary care naturopathic physician with Natural Doctors International in Nicaragua, she worked with pediatrics, infectious disease, acute illnesses and chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes and arthritis. She also led the DIOSA program, a women's health program aimed at empowering and educating women about their health, and increasing cervical cancer screening. Dr. Yaremko has contributed to the life experiences of young children and families in Canada, Nicaragua, the Middle East and Asia. She recognizes the influence that culture and society have on personal health.
Dr. Yaremko is passionate about dance. She performs with a semi-professional dance ensemble and is the naturopathic doctor to the Alberta Ballet. She recognizes that health is not merely an absence of disease, but rather a dynamic process involving mind, body, spirit and community. She works to educate her patients and the public about the tremendous power they have for their health and lives. She firmly believes that a person's lifestyle is the greatest modifiable effector of health. She cherishes the connections made with people while attending their health journeys and looks forward to creating more. Dr. Yaremko is a graduate of the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and a Chancellor's Club scholar from the University of Calgary. She is currently the Registrar and Vice-President of the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta.
