Primarily through the use of hands-on manipulation of your muscles, tendons and ligaments, massage therapists are a great start for optimizing your health.
Massage therapy has a therapeutic effect on the body by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems. Physical function can be developed, maintained and improved. Often massage therapy works very well in conjunction with other disciplines as more time can be spent on correlating physical dysfunction, pain and stress relief.
You can get an appointment with our Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) for many different types of treatments.
Momentum Health Regsitered Massage Therapists provide multiple types of treatment
Swedish Massage is a gentle form of massage that uses long strokes, kneading, circular movements, vibration, and tapping to help relax and energize the body. Swedish massage is often used for relaxation and stress relief.
Deep Tissue Massage uses slow, deep strokes and firm pressure to help release tension in the muscles and connective tissues. It's often used to treat chronic pain and injuries. We'll incorporate elbows or forearms to accommodate this type of treatment.
Sports Massage is typically designed for athletes and active individuals. It can help improve flexibility, reduce muscle soreness, and prevent injuries when applied in conjunction with remedial exercise.
Hot Stone Massage. Mmmm you can feel the heat just thinking about it! Using a water heater to imbue smooth, heated stones with lasting heat, our RMTs place the hot stones on specific points on the body and most importantly also use them as a massage tool. The heat really permeates your body to relax the muscles and improve circulation as the stones are used to move muscle tissue and facilitate a deep release.
Prenatal Massage is designed for pregnant women. It can help relieve pain and discomfort associated with pregnancy, as well as reduce stress and anxiety. Some locations have cutouts in the table whereas others will support you with pillows and bolsters to give you the relaxation and reprieve you are craving.
Trigger Point Therapy involves the application of pressure to specific trigger points in the body. It can help relieve pain and tension in the muscles, as well as improve range of motion.
Myofascial Release: This is a type of massage that focuses on the fascia, which is the connective tissue that surrounds and supports the muscles. Myofascial release can help release tension and improve mobility.
Reflexology targets certain spots on your feet to enhance relaxation or circulation. This service is available at select locations only.
Cupping, or the use of cups in a massage, feels great on large fascial sections that need to move! The cup creates a pocket of suction directly over the area where the cup is placed. It can then be left stationary for a continued stretch or moved around your back or other section as needed. Physiotherapists may also use cups to facilitate a soft tissue release when appropriate.
Rapid Neurofascial Reset (NFR) is used by some therapists to target a very specific muscle or muscle group. These appointments can be booked in as little as 15 minutes and there is no need to remove clothing to gain the benefits of this treatment

What to expect during a massage at Momentum Health
Because we are a medical clinic, we will have an intake form for you to complete, just the same as you would for any of our other practitioners. This form will give the therapist a complete picture of your overall health and how we can best provide the care you are seeking.
We will tailor each session to meet your goals! If there is a specific service you'd like added, like Mint Oil or Hot Stone, be sure to communicate this with the clinic prior to your appointment.
Please be sure to communicate adaptations with your massage therapist that will make you more comfortable, such as the pressure and depth of the treatment. We may encourage a particular treatment, but if it is too much for you, we need to know!
The therapist will give you a moment to undress to your level of comfort and get on the table, under the sheets before entering the room. Some treatments can be performed with clothing still on.
Any questions? Please ask us or your therapist directly. We're beyond happy to help.
