Momentum Health is contracted under Alberta Health Services (AHS) to provide funding for Physiotherapy!

What does AHS cover for Physiotherapy?

This program is administered by Alberta Health Services.

In general, this program provides funding for Physiotherapy for:

We also have access to provide care under the Workers Compensation Board for work injuries, through your car insurance if you've been in a Motor Vehicle Collision and of course we can direct bill any third party insurance you may have.

Eli Silva

Eli Silva

Eli is a Brazilian trained physio and has been practicing physiotherapist in Calgary for many years. Eli got his bachelor in physiotherapy from the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública (Bahian School of Medicine and Public Health), Salvador, Brazil in 2005. He has taken Kinetacore Functional dry needling level 1 and is a certified manipulative therapist through Swodeam Institute. He is also trained in Global Postural Reeducation (GPR) in Brazil where he held a private practice before moving with his family to Canada. GPR is a specific physiotherapy approach based on the Mézières method and further developed by French physiotherapist Philippe E. Souchard. This French founded system focuses on correcting body mechanics and muscle imbalances via releasing and unwinding muscle chains in the body.
Eli is very enthusiastic about functional rehabilitation, educating his clients and walking with them as he empowers and enables them to get back to their health and enjoy life to their fullest. He has over 8 years of martial arts experience and currently trains in HapKiDo. He likes to play soccer and volleyball. In his spare time Eli loves to barbecue (Brazilian style) for his friends and family, and spend time with his lovely wife and 3 boys.

Kristen Hunter

Kristen realized her passion for rehabilitation after sustaining an ACL injury as a minor soccer player. As a result, she is able to appreciate first hand the effect therapy can have on recovery. Kristen received her Masters of Science in Physiotherapy in 2015 from the University of Alberta and her Bachelor of Kinesiology in 2012 from the University of Calgary. Kristen has worked in a variety of physiotherapy settings, but has a special interest in vestibular, concussion and orthopedic rehabilitation. Kristen has completed additional training in dizziness, balance, and concussion assessment/treatment and uses Frenzel goggles to assess advanced vestibular conditions. She has completed level II and III Upper for the Canadian Physiotherapy Association’s Diploma of Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulation courses. Kristen's treatment philosophy is to provide physiotherapy grounded in research and exercise to bring you the dedicated one on one approach you deserve. Outside the clinic Kristen enjoys curling, golfing and chasing her family around the playground.

As a student-athlete, Rebecca understands the commitment it takes to excel in competitive sports, but understands the challenges of finding time to fit everything in. She relocated to Calgary, Alberta in 2018 and has previously worked in Okotoks and Red Deer. Rebecca has completed further training in manual therapy, functional dry needling, Mulligan mobilizations, and has experience in treating individuals in the community with Parkinson’s Disease and MS. She is passionate about being a physical therapist and helping people achieve their goals while recovering from an injury, overcoming chronic pain, or maintaining an active lifestyle. Rebecca graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Masters degree in Physical Therapy, where she previously received a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology, with a minor in Psychology. Rebecca has also earned her Level 1 Orthopaedic Manual Therapy certification. Rebecca’s treatment approach is focused on movement retraining and exercise prescription, as she is a strong believer in the body’s ability to heal through exercise and movement. She also utilizes a variety of hands-on, manual therapy and soft tissue techniques to facilitate your recovery process. Rebecca is passionate about empowerment through education, and will ensure you walk out of the clinic with an understanding of your injury and rehabilitation process. Rebecca was born and raised in Vancouver, BC, where she grew up playing high-level soccer and softball, as well as dancing competitively. These days, when not in the clinic, you can find her running outdoors, playing tennis, trying a new fitness class, or exploring the beautiful backcountry of Alberta.

Kieran Liew

Kieran has been a practicing physiotherapist at Momentum Health since 2018, after receiving her Master of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Toronto. Kieran’s passion for helping others through physiotherapy began after her own experience rehabilitating a shoulder injury she sustained as a varsity swimmer. Since graduating, she has completed courses in pelvic floor physiotherapy, pre and postnatal care, Functional Dry Needling, and has completed her Level I Manual Therapy Certification. This training allows her to treat bowel and bladder incontinence, dyspareunia (painful intercourse), diastasis recti, and pelvic pain during pregnancy. Kieran is one of the few pelvic floor physiotherapists in Calgary that treat men as well as women.

Kieran loves supporting women during their pregnancies, preparing for labour and delivery, and assisting in pelvic floor rehab after birth.

Kieran’s approach to rehabilitation is client-centred; she utilizes exercise, manual therapy, and education to help her clients remember the joy they feel when moving their body. As a dedicated lifelong learner, she plans to complete additional courses in manual therapy and pain science. In her spare time, Kieran enjoys hiking, climbing, and playing with any dogs she encounters.

Alisha has well over five years of experience working with the Calgary Police and over ten years working in the Ogden/Lynnwood/Millican community, providing guided exercise and targeted rehabilitation solutions for WCB cases, MVA claims and sporting injuries.

Meghan continues to treat orthopaedic injuries, but has a passion for Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy. Her experience in treating orthopaedics is fundamental for any Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist in order to fully appreciate the pelvic floor's role and influence in many orthopaedic injuries and pain.

Tom completed his Master’s of Science in Physiotherapy at Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland in 2023, where he graduated with distinction. Prior to moving to Scotland, Tom completed his Bachelor of Kinesiology in his hometown of Edmonton at the University of Alberta, where he also graduated with distinction.

After returning to Canada, while undergoing the credentialing process to be able to practice as a physiotherapist, Tom worked as a kinesiologist with Momentum Health. During this period, he gained experience working with a variety of patients and conditions including motor vehicle accident injuries, work-related injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, and sports injuries. Tom is also interested in keeping up to date with the latest research and evidence. He has published academic articles looking at exercise and bone health, which can be found here.

Tom’s first experience with physiotherapy was as a teenager after tearing his ACL playing basketball. After engaging in physiotherapy treatment both before and after surgery, he recognized how important physiotherapy was in helping him return to the activities he enjoyed. Tom now hopes to help others overcome their pain and injuries so that they can get back to the things they love.

Outside the clinic, Tom enjoys reading, lifting weights, running, hiking, and a good cup of coffee.

As an avid learner, he plans on continuing his education by pursuing the highest orthopedic levels. These would be in addition to courses he has completed in facial rehab, GLA:D certifications for hip & knee Osteoarthritis, and Level 1 and 2 functional dry needling certifications. Outside of work, Joel likes to spend time outdoors, especially when he can bring his German Shepard named Havoc. Devoted to improving lives, Sierra takes pride in providing patient-centered care, focusing on helping individuals reach their full potential. She offers guidance that draws upon each person's unique strengths and promotes healthy living for all ages. With a background in holistic wellness, yoga, and Pilates, Sierra brings a comprehensive approach to her practice. Her own experience as an athlete in rugby, track, cheerleading, bodybuilding, and fitness instructing has instilled her with a deep understanding of injury prevention, rehabilitation, and the importance of returning safely to sport or work activities.

Marie-Pier graduated from the bilingual University of Ottawa with a Master of Health Sciences in Physiotherapy, after completing her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at the Faculté Saint-Jean of the University of Alberta. Since graduating, Marie-Pier has completed her Dry Needling certification, Part A of the McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy method, which aims at addressing certain low back injuries, and is currently immersed in advanced manual therapy courses offered by the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, solidifying her expertise in treating complex musculoskeletal issues.

She has gained clinical proficiency working with shoulder, low back, and knee injuries, with a particular interest in rotator cuff related injuries. Her personal experience as a competitive ice hockey player allows her to connect with athletes, both recreational and competitive, guiding them back to their sport with a deep understanding of the demands involved. For lasting recovery, she utilizes a comprehensive approach, combining manual therapy with personalized exercise programs tailored to each patient's needs. Marie-Pier's care extends to pediatrics. She can assess and treat musculoskeletal conditions in infants and toddlers, such as torticollis, plagiocephaly, muscular imbalances, gait training and milestone development. Kirsten Taylor

Kirsten completed her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy (MScPT) at the University of Alberta in 2014, and has worked clinically for over 9 years. She has recently completed a Clinical Masters degree in the Comprehensive Musculoskeletal Program (Advanced Health Care Practitioner) at Western University (London, Ontario) and received her FCAMPT designation. She completed her certification in Gunn IMS in July 2018.

Kirsten has a special interest in sport injury prevention, concussion rehabilitation and a wide variety of athletic injuries (recreational and high performance).  She worked as the team physical therapist for the University of Alberta Golden Bears and Pandas Varsity Swim team from 2011-2020. In her free time, Kirsten enjoys playing ultimate Frisbee, mountain biking and road cycling, swimming, reading and travelling.

Jenna graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology in 2014. She then went on to complete her Masters in Physiotherapy in 2016 from Glasgow Caledonian University. During her education, Jenna gained valuable knowledge and practical experience working with patients suffering from pelvic floor dysfunction. She worked on the maternity ward directly with new moms and taught pre- and post-natal pelvic health seminars. Jenna completed her thesis on 'The Effectiveness of Pelvic Floor Muscle Training for the treatment of Urinary Incontinence in Post-natal Women'. This research led her to pursue a specialty in Women's health to treat patients with incontinence, diastasis recti, pelvic organ prolapse, overactive bladder, lumbopelvic pain and dyspareunia. In addition, Jenna has a passion for treating all musculoskeletal injuries and is certified in Functional Dry Needling and Spinal Manipulation. In her spare time, Jenna enjoys travelling, hiking, playing badminton, pickleball and soccer!

Jason graduated with his Bachelors of Physical Education in 2008 and his Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in 2011, from the University of Alberta. He worked for the Canadian Back Institute for one year, working with patients rehabilitating from spinal injuries, chronic pain and musculoskeletal sprains/strains. Jason opened Momentum Health West Springs and has worked as clinical lead and managing Clinic Director there since 2014. As well, Jason works as a Lead Instructor for Evidence in Motion – teaching other physical therapists, chiropractors and Medical Doctors how to perform Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) – a speciality dry needling technique. Jason focuses in the treatment of sporting injuries, rotator cuff rehabilitation, whiplash, post-surgical rehab, as well as tension headaches and lower back dysfunction. Jason is also involved with high level athletics, working as the physical therapist for the Canadian National Professional Boxing welterweight champion (Steve Claggett) UFC Featherweight (Hakeem Dawodu), many of the Calgary Gymnastic Clubs Provincial and National level gymnasts, as well as mixed martial artists competitors and coaches from local gyms in Calgary. Amy recieved a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a minor in Strength and Conditioning from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri. While attending Lindenwood, Amy was able to pursue her life long passion of hockey and played with the Lindenwood Lions in the NCAA Divsion 1. Amy then moved on to receive her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta. Since graduating, Amy has recieved certification in Functional Dry Needling and completed level 2 certification of the CPA Diploma of Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy, with plans of pursuing her level 3 certifications. Amy has also completed the Advanced Physical Therapy Cervico-thoraicic Certification Program from APTEI and is GLA:D Back and GLA:D Hip & Knee certified. Growing up in the small town of Hays, Alberta Amy spent much of her time playing any and all sports available. From this and her experience as a collegiate athlete, Amy has developed a passion and understanding of the importance of exercise and an active rehabilitation program. Exercise coupled with strong manual therapy and patient education is the philosophy in which she approaches all injuries with. In her free time, Amy enjoys playing hockey, skiing, hiking, ball, and spending time with family and friends.

Kaylie Wilson

Kaylie graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2011 and her Master’s in Physical Therapy in 2013 from the University of Saskatchewan. Since graduating, Kaylie has gone on to pursue many post-graduate courses including her Level I and II dry needling from Kineticore, Levels I – V certifications from the CPA Diploma of Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy courses, Mastering the Shoulder Levels I and II, and has become a Level 2 provider for concussion management through Shift Concussions. Kaylie is also currently working towards becoming a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy.

Kaylie is passionate about strength training and feels it is an important part of the rehabilitation process. She will customize programs to meet the needs of her patients so they become independent in managing their injuries. Though Kaylie enjoys rehabilitating all types of injuries, she has taken a special interest in concussion management, spinal injuries, and cervicogenic headache.

Outside of work Kaylie enjoys her morning runs with her very active dog, and spending time outdoors with her husband and their one-year-old son.

Briana Campbell

Briana graduated with her Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Human Kinetics and Health Science from Saint Francis Xavier (Antigonish NS) in 2017 and her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in 2019 from the University of Ottawa. Since graduating, Briana has completed Part A of the McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy method used to treat low back injuries as well as the K Taping Pro Therapist Training. She will also be completing Level I dry needling from Kineticore in October 2021. Briana enjoys rehabilitating all types of injuries and enjoys working on gait training in children of all ages. Briana uses a combined treatment approach that focuses manual therapy, therapeutic exercises and patient education to decrease pain and improve daily living and empower clients to meet their goals. Briana is fluent in both English and French. In her spare time, Briana enjoys baking all sorts of cookies, skating, hiking and going on outdoor adventures with her fiancé and their puppy Winston.

Kora completed her Bachelor of Physical Literacy at Mount Royal University (2018), where she found a passion for empowering others in their health and wellness journeys. During her undergraduate years, Kora gained experience in sport development and conditioning training through coaching with Banff Alpine (ski) Racers/Bow Valley Quickies and volunteered as an assistant coach for a high school track and field team. After working as a Kinesiologist with Momentum Health for 2 years, Kora moved to Aberdeen Scotland where she obtained her Masters of Physiotherapy at Robert Gordon University (2022). Now back in Calgary, Kora is keen to utilize her new found skills in manual therapy, exercise prescription and patient education to help her clients reach their goals and get back to the activities they love.

When not in the clinic, you can find Kora exploring the backcountry, whether skiing, rock climbing, camping, running, or skijoring.
