As February is upon us, I am reminded everywhere that Valentines Day is almost here. February the month of Love, Romance and Chocolate gift boxes......but wait... It's also the month of Self-Love and maybe some Compassion for Yourself!
Giving your OWN body and mind what it needs is super important as well!
I am grateful everyday to be able to help people recover from injuries, decrease their migraines, enhance their athletic performance or just give them a quick escape from the stressful reality we sometimes become accustomed to. To me, Massage Therapy embodies Compassion through a very powerful modality: Human Touch.
As a child I spent about 3 years visiting our local physiotherapist twice a week to help with my Scoliosis. Along with exercises, postural awareness, they also did a fair amount of soft tissue manipulation. Back then, Massage Therapy as a stand-alone profession didn't exist, but the benefits of therapeutic touch stayed with me for a long time, enough to make it my career later on.
Looking back on the past, dare I say 20 years, I have seen thousands of people, done upwards of 15,000 treatments and have been able to witness the benefits of Massage Therapy first hand. Patients leave their treatments feeling less stressed, their smiles a little bigger, their aches and pains lessened and their muscles more flexible, strong and pain-free over time. This is why regular Massage is so very important, and why many people incorporate it regularly to either recover faster, perform better and achieve an overall sense of well-being.
So this month, show yourself some kindness and compassion as well. YOU are just as important as everyone around you. Take some time just for yourself because no one can pour from an empty cup.
Here is to an amazing month, keep moving, keep smiling, be kind and book a massage with one of our amazing Massage Therapists. Your Body and Mind will thank you!
